Glossary term
Bonded seam
A seam produced by adhesively joining two fabric surfaces without sewing — eliminating needle punctures through the membrane.
Definition
Bonded seams come in several forms: heat-melt film bonding, ultrasonic welding, and adhesive-encapsulated constructions.
Quality varies dramatically depending on adhesive chemistry, surface preparation and equipment control.
Why it matters to DSEAMS
DSEAMS delivers two classes of bonded seam — Cohesive CIBS inline lamination and Liquants AES Adhesive Encapsulation — producing seams fused at the molecular level.

- Adhesive EncapsulationLiquants' proprietary seam technology that encapsulates adhesive into a laser-prepared seam surface to create a fused, barrier-integral bond.
