Glossary term
2-layer laminate
Also known as: 2L
A face fabric bonded to a membrane, with a separate free-hanging liner — light, soft, typically used in lifestyle and trail outerwear.
Definition
2-layer laminates combine a shell fabric with a membrane only. The lining is stitched or hung separately to protect the membrane from abrasion and skin oils.
Advantages include softer hand-feel and better drape; the trade-off is slightly less durability and harder waterproof integrity on interior seams.
Why it matters to DSEAMS
DSEAMS is compatible with 2-layer laminate constructions, with tried-and-tested combinations available and new-fabric trials possible.
