Glossary term
Face fabric
Also known as: Shell fabric
The outermost woven or knit layer of a laminate — the surface the wearer sees and the environment abrades.
Definition
Face fabric choices drive hand-feel, aesthetic, abrasion resistance and DWR behaviour.
Common face-fabric constructions include ripstop nylon, polyester mini-ripstop, soft-shell wovens and technical knits.
Why it matters to DSEAMS
DSEAMS is compatible with woven and knit shell fabrics. Shell, lining and membrane can be sourced by the licensee or recommended by DSEAMS.
